Any experienced Labradoodle owners know any good books or websites for info?

I am looking into the Labradoodle breed and wanted to know as much about them as I can. I am willing to adopt but the ownership will not happen anytime soon so I don’t want any offers of puppies or anything. I would just like to take my time researching them to know what I’m getting. Thanks so much!

    <—– I have a mutt!

Honestly, there is just no way to tell what you’re going to get, with mutts… even the ones that have been given silly "designer" names. Your best bet is to research EACH breed thoroughly (Labrador Retrievers and Poodles), and be prepared for the mutt to bring out the best, or worst, of both breeds.

You should never buy a mutt from a petstore or "breeder"… these people are only out for your money, and they’ve bred low quality dogs to produce low quality puppies, and will lie through their teeth to get them sold for good cash. Don’t fall for it. The only place you should be getting a mutt is from a shelter or rescue, where hundreds of thousands of perfectly good mutts will be euthanized, due to lack of space.

Kip’s Mom is right about the grooming, too… I had a "doodle" in my training class, she was black, and was *covered* in mats, her coat was an absolute mess. AND, she was a heavy shedder, quite contrary to the puppymill and BYB claims of "hypoallergenic hybrids". Poor girl had to be shaved right down, what a mess.
